Understanding where your chronic pain, anxiety or other persistent condition comes from is the first step to recovery. You have been led to believe that all pain is due to a structural problem in the body. This is not the case. Studies in Neuroscience now show that our brain is capable of creating real, often intense, symptoms in the body, even in the absence of tissue damage. Past and present stresses, trauma and repressed negative emotions can lead to the ‘rewiring’ of the brain’s neural pathways. In other words, unresolved negative emotions, that can have a huge effect on the way we think and behave, have been shown to cause physical pain and ailments in the body.
